What’s on the Menu:

Red Beans and Rice is an emblematic dish of Louisiana Creole cuisine and served on Monday, which was wash day in New Orleanian homes. Our Red Beans are a vegan version that are creamy and includes spicy smoked portabella mushrooms instead of the smoked sausage used in the traditional dish. 32oz of red beans and 32 oz of rice will feed 4 people as a main dish or many more as a side, also included is 16 oz of smothered greens for $15.00.  They also freeze well. 

Sauces, 32oz (frozen) – $10

Tomato sauce with onion and roasted mushrooms, thick and hearty ideal as is or by adding chicken, meatballs, or our roasted vegetables. A thicker noodle like fettuccine or spaghetti.

Tomato sauce, Pomodoro, light and fresh [gluten free] this is a great sauce with ravioli or a small noodle like angel hair. Add fresh basil or a cheese like ricotta salata.

 

Soups 32 oz (frozen) – $10

Spicy Tomato,   Needs a grilled cheese sandwich and movie night. [gluten free]

Potato and Leek, A non-dairy version of a french country soup  [gluten free]

Caribbean Sweet Potato and Roasted Red Pepper, Food Shift’s best selling soup of roasted sweet potatoes and puree of roasted red peppers [gluten free]

 

 

 

Food Shift is a non-profit social enterprise based in Alameda, CA. In 2016 Food Shift launched The Food Shift Kitchen located at Alameda Point Collaborative (APC).

Using fresh fruits and vegetables from farms, grocers, and distributors that would otherwise be discarded due to cosmetic imperfections, the Food Shift Kitchen creates meals and food products which are sold throughout the community and provided to food insecure communities.

The Food Shift Kitchen trains and employs individuals with barriers to employment including residents of APC. Your purchase will help us expand our work to reduce waste, feed the hungry, and provide jobs to the community.
