We are filled with gratitude and excitement for the swell of grassroots support we received in the recent BART Blue Sky contest. Nearly 900 people indicated through the online contest that they believe in our work and want to see Food Shift ads on San Francisco’s public transit system. We are honored and humbled to have this opportunity and believe it is a reflection of how deeply people desire a more just and less wasteful food system.
As we work to establish sustainable models that recover, redistribute and process excess food, education and awareness will continue to be a core element of our work. The statistics around food waste are shocking and we know that through knowledge we can inspire people to shift their behaviors toward a more conscious use of food.
