Andre was born is Los Angeles, but his family moved shortly thereafter to Monterrey, Mexico, where they lived for 12 years before eventually moving to San Francisco. That early experience of living in a foreign country, along with his mother and grandmother’s extraordinary culinary talent, got Andre interested in cooking. Once in the Bay Area, his passion for food expanded, with a love of Asian, Middle Eastern and Latin American cuisines. Cooking has only been a hobby, but recently Andre decided to expand on that by making a career change, focusing on food and cooking education. Along with his Food Shift responsibilities as a Food Recovery Driver, he works as a Chef Instructor for after school programs at Sprouts Cooking Club.
