Jonathan Bloom is a journalist and food waste expert. His book, “American Wasteland: How America Throws Away Nearly Half of Its Food (and What We Can Do About It)” was published in October 2010 and won the 2011 IACP Green Matters Award. Since then, he has become a speaker and consultant on the perils of food waste. Jonathan also founded and writes the blog Wasted Food. His work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Newsweek, among others. Jonathan brings to the committee a thorough understanding of the complexities of the food waste issue, several contacts and a direct link to the media. Jonathan is a Park Fellow and received an M.A. in Journalism from UNC Chapel Hill.
