Ryan started volunteering with Food Shift when the kitchen first opened in 2016. Ryan says that every time he works in the kitchen he learns something new, whether the proper way to hold a knife, how to break down an artichoke or how make the perfect rue. His favorite thing to help with besides working in the kitchen is being an ambassador and connecting the program with companies and businesses that have products going to waste. He was able to recover $450 worth of vinegar by reaching out to distributors asking about their excess product. Ryan is passionate about the Food Shift mission and couldn’t believe a program like this didn’t exist before!
