The Food Shift Kitchen, located at the Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is up and running, and we have been busy transforming surplus produce into delicious food for the Alameda Food Bank, City Team Ministries, and events including the Oakland Earth Expo.
Volunteers are instrumental to our program and we would love for you to join us!
Volunteers assist with everything from sorting, cleaning, cutting, peeling, zesting, and packaging meals. Learn and practice valuable knife skills and kitchen safety protocols under the direction of trained Food Shift culinary team members.
Volunteers must be 12 years or older. Come dressed comfortably with closed-toed, non-slip shoes. No prior kitchen prep experience is necessary.
Monday – Thursday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
*Shifts are ~3.5 hrs and we provide a vegetarian lunch to enjoy with the team!
